Nerhi Okwa is the Managing Director at Tarius Energy Ltd and he is
responsible for driving the company’s strategic growth in various stages of
the oil and gas value chain. He has led the company’s growth initiatives in
the specialty oils business in West Africa through strategic partnerships with
Chemlube International LLC, an associate company of Glencore, and has
achieve market-leader status in the Specialty oils industry by driving
projects where multiple stakeholder engagement is key. He is an
accomplished professional who brings valuable experience to the Board of
Directors.
Nerhi has a strong track record of attracting and developing multinational
partnerships and investments in the oil and gas sector in Nigeria; such as
Nynas AB Sweden, and Line Pipe International, a subsidiary of US Steel.
In 2019, he founded Flamingo Manufacturing Company, a producer of
FMCG products from recycled waste plastic. The company was established
to manufacture products in ways that are sustainable for the environment,
with a focus on Profits, People, and the Planet.
He established Tarius Oil Services Limited, a Joint Venture between Tarius
Energy and other strategic investors in 2010 to offer services to the oil and
gas majors in West Africa; including the provision of supply chain solutions
and Engineering services. Nerhi has a keen interest in Sustainability,
De-carbonization, and net zero, with a specific focus on the effect of the
Energy transition on developing nations in Africa.
He began his career as an Investment Banker, at Citigroup Global Markets,
UK, where he was an analyst in the Financial Institutions Group. At Citi, he
worked on Landmark deals such as the Restructuring of Northern Rock, at
the peak of the 2008 Financial Crisis.
Nerhi achieved a First class, in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at
University College London. He is an Executive MBA graduate of the
prestigious HEC Paris.
